Who We Are
DOTC was inspired by the lived experience of our founder, Lauren Moquette, who survived human sex trafficking. This work began in 2021, after Lauren exited “the game” and stepped into a new life rooted in healing, purpose, and obedience to God.
It wasn’t until a little over a year after her exit that Lauren fully realized she had been trafficked. For a long time, she believed she was a “304” by choice until someone helped her understand that it only takes one “no” for consent to end and exploitation to begin. That revelation became a turning point, and it is one of the reasons DOTC is deeply committed to prevention. When education reaches people before exploiters and abusers do, it helps reduce vulnerability and lowers the risk of someone else falling victim to force, fraud, or coercion.
The name Daughters of the Corner represents transformation. It speaks to women once known by the corners they stood on and the labels forced onto them, becoming daughters reclaimed by identity and belonging. From “daughters of the corner” to daughters of The Cornerstone, Jesus Christ. As Scripture says, “The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone.” (Psalm 118:22)
Although Lauren was trafficked domestically throughout the United States, God placed a burden on her heart to serve women both online and in person. Online outreach allows DOTC to reach women across the nation and around the world, but the call did not stop there. In 2022, God specifically called Lauren back to Brooklyn to serve women in East New York, on the very blade she once walked. She moved to Brooklyn in obedience, and since then, God has been preparing her for the work He assigned by allowing her to first receive the very services, resources, and support that DOTC now connects survivors to today.
This organization is built on knowledge, experience, compassion, and the love of Jesus Christ. Lauren’s life verse and the heart behind DOTC is 2 Corinthians 1:3-4, which reminds us that God comforts us in our afflictions so that we can comfort others with the same comfort we have received.
While DOTC is rooted in Christ, we do not discriminate against who we serve. We understand that everyone is in different stages of healing & faith, and our goal is for every person who connects with us to feel safe, welcomed, and supported, while still experiencing the same comfort and love that God has shown us.
Our mission is to provide education for prevention and freedom from active exploitation.
Our Mission
Our Vision
Our vision is a world where everyone understands what trafficking really looks like, and where the light of truth exposes darkness so exploitation cannot thrive.
