Consulting

DOTC provides survivor-led consulting for agencies, nonprofits, churches, and community programs seeking trauma-informed, prevention-focused guidance. We help partners strengthen outreach strategies, improve survivor-centered engagement, and build practical pathways to safety and support.

We’ve partnered with organizations and systems across NYC, including the Brooklyn DA’s Office, the FBI, NYPD, and the Mayor’s Office, along with other well-known anti-trafficking organizations, to support prevention and response work in the community.

Consulting support may include:

  • Survivor-informed program feedback and prevention planning

  • Training and support for staff, volunteers, and leadership teams

  • Outreach strategy development and community engagement guidance

  • Messaging support for survivor-centered and trauma-informed communication

  • Collaboration planning and referral pathway development

Social Media Outreach & Advocacy

With the increase of digital exploitation and online grooming through social media, DOTC uses online platforms to educate, warn, and empower. For over 5 years, we’ve provided outreach and advocacy by sharing lived experience, safety awareness, prevention messaging, and resources that help people recognize red flags before exploitation escalates.

We believe prevention starts with visibility. Many people are being groomed online without realizing what is happening, and DOTC exists to bring clarity, language, and truth to what grooming and manipulation can look like in real time.

As DOTC continues to grow, our goal is to expand beyond digital outreach into street outreach in East New York, reaching women on the ground in the very communities where exploitation is happening.

Our outreach and advocacy may include:

  • Online prevention messaging and awareness campaigns

  • Digital safety education and grooming awareness content

  • Survivor-led advocacy that challenges myths and stereotypes

  • Resource sharing, community education, and support connections

  • Collaboration opportunities with partners and community organizations

Education & Awareness

DOTC delivers survivor-led education through presentations, community workshops, and digital resources that break down the realities of trafficking beyond the stereotypes. We focus on helping people recognize exploitation as it truly is, including the patterns of coercion, grooming, and manipulation that are often missed or misunderstood.

This includes highlighting From Her Perspective: The Language of Exploitation, a resource created from lived experience to bring clarity and awareness. It is designed to help communities understand terms, red flags, and coded language connected to exploitation.

Education and awareness also includes the DOTC Podcast, where survivors share their experiences to bring awareness to the different facets and methods of human trafficking and provide a platform for their voices to be heard.

Education and awareness offerings may include:

  • Survivor-led presentations and prevention-focused workshops

  • Trainings for youth, parents, churches, and community programs

  • Glossary-based teaching to recognize exploitation language and signs

  • Podcast collaborations and survivor storytelling opportunities

  • Custom prevention education for organizations and events
